Woman goes 5 years without shampoo
Wed Jan 15, 2014
I know people (including me) that skip days of shampooing, and only rinse. Nothing in the shampoos scare me regarding their "chemical" constituents, just no need to..imo. People that say because of chemical content..really mean they have little to no knowlege of chemistry, and ability to …
Target CEO promises to make 'significant changes' after huge data breach
Sun Jan 12, 2014

West Virginia chemical spill cuts water to up to 300,000, state of emergency declared
Fri Jan 10, 2014
it's interesting reading all the posts and seeing the fundemental biases and preceptions people have of gov't, polititics, corporations, etc. As an environmental engineer, and risk assessment professional, the first thing I would want to know is what was spilled.
Forget 4K TVs: Most Americans still own a VCR
Wed Jan 8, 2014
In reply to: ccdjr #1 I think the article should be called fun with surveys. The reason (imo) most people still own a VCR, is because they are too lazy or cheap to get rid of it. Having one collecting dust doesn't mean it is used. Most people still own clothes that don't fit …

Arrest, search of female diplomat in NYC 'despicable and barbaric,' Indian official says
Tue Dec 17, 2013
Hmmm....looked it up on the SS board. According to them you don't need an SS number to get a bank account...so I am questioning the tactic. Just because a bank asks for one doesn't mean you need one...I guess.

Pregnancy bias is alive and well in America
Poorly stated, but a point well taken with me. And they should have titled the article as Discrimination, not bias (since bias is not a bad word, and that is not what they meant). Discrimination is against the law...some bias...well that is life. Best move past it. There is a bias that exists for s …
I agree that it is more prevalent outside of corporations (where I work)...I have see the opposite (many accomodations).
Do you worry about artificial dyes in food?
No, I don't worry about it
I see no great purpose for the food dyes, and likely don't have many in my diet. yet I also (darn science and risk assessment background) think we worry about insignificant risks too much. I would call this insignificant risk.
I "worry" about perhaps the top 20 risk factors in my life. Food dyes are so far down in my risk ranking you couldn't even find the entry
